Abstract

Laboratory courses are an important part of biology teaching. High quality teaching depends on the behavior of the students as well as other factors. This study aims to identify the behavior of students in biology laboratory courses. Eighty-seven biology teachers were included in the study. A study questionnaire including two open-ended questions was used. The most essential behavior anticipated by biology teachers from the students was comprehension of the importance of the laboratory courses. In addition, the most important causes of inappropriate student behaviour were found to be lack of awareness of the importance of the Laboratory courses, perception of the Laboratory courses as killing time, due to anxiety about passing the national university exam.
